I've watched the Joan Wulff video on YouTube a dozen times and something did not click for me. I could easily haul on the back cast but not on the forward cast. I had given up on even trying.
Mel's video and his demonstration (without the rod in his hand) was a Eureka moment for me.
I took the rod outside and was able to double haul for the first time. While my cast may not look very pretty, it finally made sense and it finally felt right.
It's amazing sometimes how hearing, or seeing the same thing with a small variation makes all the difference in the world.
